Established in 1995, the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have made extraordinary contributions in the sports world. The annual class of inductees is usually composed of five people. Each inductee

  • Developed his or her skills in Santa Clara County,
  • Played or coached for a county team or school,
  • Represented county as an individual athlete or
  • Contributed in some extraordinary way to greater San Jose community in a sports-related program or project.

The public may nominate candidates, and inductees are selected by the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

 
Induction Ceremony and Dinner  

Held every November on the floor of HP Pavilion, this gala event honors the inductees as well as those to be honored as Male and Female High School Athletes of the Year, Male and Female Amateur Athletes of the Year and Special Olympian of the year. Proceeds from the dinner benefit Special Olympics Northern California.

Inductees

Fifty-four men and women have been inducted into the Hall. Each is honored with a bronze plaque with his or her likeness and highlights of their career. The plaques are displayed on the concourse of HP Pavilion.

Silent Auction
One of the highlights of the Induction Dinner and Ceremony is the silent auction of sports memorabilia and other items. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Northern California.
