SAN JOSE SPORTS HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2015

Pro Bowl Quarterback

Plaque Location: SAP Center, Section 120

Jeff Garcia was a star in basketball and football at Gilroy High School. He played his first year of college football at Gavilan College, where he was coached by his father, Bobby. Garcia then transferred to San Jose State University, where he was a three-year starter and remains in the school’s all-time top-ten rankings in nearly every major passing category, and as a senior was named the MVP of the 1994 East-West Shrine All-Star Game.

Garcia went on to the CFL, where he was a four-time All Star, and the 1997 MVP of the league’s Western Division. He returned to the Bay Area in 1999 as a San Francisco 49er and earned four Pro Bowl appearances. Garcia retired in 2011, having led three different teams to the NFL playoffs (49ers, Eagles and Buccaneers), recording a career total of 161 touchdowns and 25,537 total passing yards. Garcia is one of only 10 quarterbacks in NFL history who has recorded 30 or more passing touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.

Jeff Garcia was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
