The first overall pick in the 1990 NHL draft, Owen Nolan was traded to the San Jose Sharks in 1995.
He was a five-time All-Star and set a then-club record in the 1999-00 season with 44 goals and 40 assists. As team captain, Nolan led the Sharks to a first-round playoff upset of St. Louis in 2000 and scored a legendary All-Star goal in front of his hometown San Jose crowd in 1997. He finished an 18-year career with 1,200 games played, 422 goals, 463 assists, and 1,793 penalty minutes. Nolan won an Olympic gold medal for Canada at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.
Owen Nolan was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
