San Jose, CA – Thirty-nine (39) Santa Clara County high school seniors will learn tomorrow if they have been awarded scholarships from the San Jose Sports Authority during the 25th Annual REACH Youth Scholarship Awards Show, presented by Heritage Bank of Commerce, set to premiere on Wednesday, June 23rd, at 8 p.m., on the regional sports network NBC Sports Bay Area.

REACH is an acronym for Recognizing Excellence, Adversity, Courage and Hard Work. The San Jose Sports Authority established the REACH scholarship program in 1996 and announced the first class of recipients in 1997, making this year’s recipients the 25th class of student-athletes to receive the honor. This this year’s class will receive $83,000 in total scholarships that will be distributed over the next four years.

For the second time in its 25-year history, the REACH awards will be announced during a television broadcast on NBC Sports Bay Area in place of the program’s traditional, in-person celebration that had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Among the local sports stars who participate in the broadcast are Ronnie Lott and Brandi Chastain, honorary Co-Chairs of the REACH Youth Scholarship Program, as well as Patrick Marleau and Jim Plunkett.

Additional information about the REACH Youth Scholarship and this year’s scholarship finalists is available on the SJSA website (www.sjsa.org/REACH.)
