SAN JOSE SPORTS HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2007

Olympic Figure Skating Gold Medalist

Plaque Location: SAP Center, Section 124

Figure skating captured Brian Boitano’s imagination at a young age, when the Mountain View native attended a skating show with his parents. Just a few years later, it was Boitano at center ice, capturing the attention of the entire sports world. With powerful athleticism and regal grace, Boitano skated the performance of a lifetime to win gold at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. He went on to win two World Champion and six World Professional Champion titles. To date, he is the only male skater to earn nine perfect 6.0 scores at the U.S. Championships.

Already a member of the U.S. and World Figure Skating Halls of Fame, Boitano was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
