Phillips has been honored as a CCS honor coach in softball and her team won a CCS title in 1998.Phillips’ basketball teams have won 19 section titles, 9 NorCal titles and 6 state championships, and went a perfect 32-0 record 1999. She was named National Coach of the Year by Student Sports Magazine that same year. In 2021, Phillips served as head coach of the 2021 USA Women’s U16National Team, helping the team to a gold medal win at the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

Sue Phillips was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2022.
