Game On, San José Expands with New “Game On, SJ26” Community App
Interactive platform brings sports, technology, and prizes to San José youth and residents
SAN JOSÉ, CA — The City of San José, in partnership with the San José Sports Authority & Team San José announced the launch of Game On, SJ26, a new mobile app designed to expand the reach of the City’s Game On, San José youth sports initiative and bring the excitement of the region’s major sporting events directly into the community.
Available now for download, the Game On, SJ26 app offers residents an interactive platform where they can test their sports knowledge, compete with friends, and win prizes through a series of sports-themed games and challenges.
“Game On, SJ26 brings our community together to celebrate San Jose’s sports culture,” said Mayor Matt Mahan. “The app gives residents and youth a fun way to show their San Jose pride and learn about the many countries competing in this summer’s FIFA World Cup.”
The app allows users to participate in experiences such as sports quizzes, pick’em competitions, prediction challenges, and other interactive games tied to local teams and global sporting moments. Participants can compete with fellow fans while learning more about the teams and athletes shaping the Bay Area’s sports landscape.
Prizes include discounted merchandise at The Locker Room, tickets to local sporting events including the San José Earthquakes, San José Sharks, and San José Giants, and other giveaways. The grand prize is two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines.
“It was our goal to create lasting civic pride and ensure the benefits of the 2026 sports events are felt across our vibrant and diverse neighborhoods,” said City Manager Jennifer Maguire. “This app brings that vision to life—connecting residents through sports, technology and shared experiences—and will continue to engage San Joseans well beyond 2026.”
The app also features dedicated pages highlighting San José’s professional sports teams and will include educational elements tied to major global events coming to the region. For example, users will be able to learn about countries competing in the upcoming FIFA World Cup through interactive quizzes and challenges.
A key partner in bringing the Game On, SJ26 app to life is Adobe, whose support and collaboration played a major role in the development and launch of the platform. In partnership with the city and community leaders, Adobe designed an in-app experience for fans to express their creativity. Powered by Adobe Express, the quick and easy create anything app, users are able to design a custom badge for their profile. Through this integration and its broader sponsorship, Adobe is helping to foster community in the city of San Jose.
“We’re excited to partner with the city of San José to create meaningful ways for communities to connect and express their creativity,” said Gloria Chen, Chief People Officer and Executive Vice President, Employee Experience at Adobe. “By putting creative tools in people’s hands, we empower everyone to express their passion and individuality while enabling experiences that engage residents and celebrate the spirit of San José.”
The Game On, SJ26 app builds on the momentum of the Game On, San José initiative, which launched earlier this year to connect students with sports programming, mentorship opportunities, and community activations tied to major sporting events in the region.
By introducing a digital platform alongside in-person clinics and events, the initiative now provides youth with additional ways to stay engaged year-round. Students who participate in on-field clinics and school activations can continue exploring sports through the app’s games, quizzes, and competitions while also gaining exposure to the role technology plays in the modern sports industry.
Residents can download the Game On, SJ26 app now in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to start playing, learning, and competing for prizes.
