Bruce Jenner was a special athlete who excelled at nearly all sports.  After experiencing success at the 1972 U.S. Olympic Trials and Olympic Games, Jenner came to  and devoted himself to a full-time, grueling training regimen in preparation for the 1976 Olympic Games.  His presence in  helped shape the area as a hotbed for elite track and field athletes during that era.  Jenner was the American Decathlon Champion in 1974 and 1976.  He went on to captivate the world when he broke the world record by scoring 8,634 points to win the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and earn the title “World’s Greatest Athlete.”  hosted the “Bruce Jenner Classic” a televised, annual stop on the United States Track and Field Circuit for nearly two decades.

Bruce Jenner was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
