FIRST ANNUAL SLAM JOSE! 3×3 HOOPS FESTIVAL LAUNCHES
THIS SUMMER IN DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE

SAN JOSE, CA – The San Jose Sports Authority is proud to announce that the purest form of basketball officially returns this summer to the streets of downtown San Jose with the 2025 Slam Jose! 3×3 Hoops Festival!

San Jose’s newest annual hoopsfest style tournament features a 2-day, weekend competition on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22. Games are scheduled to be played on Saturday from 10am – 6pm and Sunday from 10am – 3pm.

Slam Jose is powered by Hoop It Up, the popular 3×3 basketball tour established in 1989 and owned by NBA legend Kevin Garnett, and will take place in Downtown San Jose at Plaza de César Chávez with basketball courts built on South Market Street and Park Avenue. The tournament will also feature a dunk contest, 3pt shootout, free throw and knockout contests.

In anticipation of the event, Mayor Matt Mahan said, “We’re excited to team up with Hoop It Up for Slam Jose, a downtown basketball showdown at Plaza de César Chávez. This event is a unique way to activate our park, and we’re inviting the community to come out, showcase their skills, and compete for cash prizes—plus the ultimate bragging rights as the best in San Jose.” The entire competition will be free to watch as the Pro-Am and Wheelchair divisions battle it out for a total prize pool of $22,500!

San Jose Sports Authority Executive Director, John Poch, is “thrilled to host Slam Jose! in partnership with Hoop It Up for our 3 on 3 basketball tournament in the heart of Silicon Valley. We are excited to bring this dynamic and inclusive event to our community, showcasing the best of grassroots basketball. From youth players to wheelchair athletes, to the kings of the courts, this tournament is a celebration of skill, competition, and the love of the game. Join us on June 21-22 at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez for an unforgettable experience!”

The launch of Slam Jose marks an exciting endeavor for George Daniel, CEO of Big Ticket Sports LLC, who said “Hoop It Up has been touring the world with streetball tournaments for 35 years. We couldn’t be more thrilled about being part of the inaugural Slam Jose basketball festival!”

Slam Jose offers registration for recreational divisions from ages 10 to 18+ as well as adult divisions at all levels of competition, including Pro-Am and Wheelchair divisions. With divisions being offered for all ages and abilities, NBA Champion Kevin Garnett says, “It’s time for all the ballers in the Bay Area to come out and prove what they got!”

The registration fee is $250 per team and includes a free Slam Jose t-shirt for each player. The tournament consists of a maximum five players per team roster with three players on the court and two optional substitutes. Each participating team is guaranteed at least four games during the tournament, and the first team to get to 21 points wins that game.

Registration is now open on slamjose.com and hoopitup.com/slamjose. Registration closes on
Tuesday, June 17 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
