SAN JOSÉ, CA (July 30, 2022) – Monday and Tuesday at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic will feature many of tennis’ biggest stars taking the court for their first round match-ups.
Today’s daytime session (Session 1) will feature Madison Keys vs Zhang Shuai, Amanda Anisimova vs Ashlyn Kreuger and two-time Grand Slam finalist Karolina Pliskova vs Katie Boulter. The evening session (Session 2) 7:00 PM match will see 2022 Wimbledon singles champion Elena Rybakina take on last year’s Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic finalist and No. 7 seed Daria Kasatkina.
The Tuesday daytime session (Session 3) matches include 2019 US Open Champion Bianca Andreescu facing American Shelby Rogers and previously announced, four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka vs Zheng Qinwen. Roland Garros finalist Coco Gauff will make her Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic debut against Anhelna Kalinina as the featured evening session (Session 4) match at 7:00 PM.

The 2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic player field is the strongest since 2009 with five current top-10 ranked players among the players entered including No. 3 Maria Sakkari, No. 4 Paula Badosa, No. 5 ranked Ons Jabeur, No.6 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 8 Garbiñe Muguruza.
The Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic has a rich history as a groundbreaking event. Co-founded by the legendary sportswoman, visionary, and activist Billie Jean King, the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic was the first event of the historic 1971 women’s professional tennis tour, a precursor to the WTA.
Created for women by women, the tournament’s list of past champions reads like a who’s who of tennis legends including Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Andrea Jaeger, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis, Venus Williams, and Kim Clijsters.
