SAN JOSÉ, CA (July 28, 2022) – The opening round match-ups for the 2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic will be unveiled at 6 pm on Friday, July 29 at Westfield Valley Fair Mall’s Center Court (2855 Stevens Creek Boulevard, Santa Clara, California 95050) during the official tournament draw ceremony.

The event is open to the public and will feature an appearance and Q&A session with 2019 US Open Champion Bianca Andreescu.  Fans will have the opportunity to participate in the draw ceremony and win tickets to the 2022 tournament.

The 2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic will take place August 1-7 at San José State University and will feature the strongest player field since 2009 with five current top-10 ranked players entered. The list of top-10 ranked entries includes No. 3 Maria Sakkari, No. 4 Paula Badosa, No. 5 ranked Ons Jabeur, No.6 Aryna Sabalenka, and No. 8 Garbiñe Muguruza.

The impressive group of players also includes four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, Roland Garros finalist Coco Gauff, 2017 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic champion Madison Keys, World No. 22 Amanda Anisimova and 2019 US Open Champion Bianca Andreescu.

The tournament’s qualifying tournament will take place Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31. The qualifying tournament is free to the public and will decide the last four entries into the main draw. Some of the players competing in qualifying include World No. 21 Jil Teichmann, California native Coco Vandeweghe, 2017 Wimbledon Junior Champion Claire Liu and former Stanford star Carol Zhao.

The Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic has a rich history as a groundbreaking event. Co-founded by the legendary sportswoman, visionary, and activist Billie Jean King, the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic was the first event of the historic 1971 women’s professional tennis tour, a precursor to the WTA.

Created for women by women, the tournament’s list of past champions reads like a who’s who of tennis legends including Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Andrea Jaeger, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis, Venus Williams, and Kim Clijsters.
