Across the Santa Clara Valley prep football landscape, Ed Buller and his teams at San Jose’s Oak Grove High stood tall for his 23 seasons as head coach. He won 18 league championships and five Central Coast Section titles while compiling a 214-29-3 record. A graduate of San Jose’s Leland High School, Buller took over the Oak Grove program in 1983 and earned a reputation as a thoughtful strategist and educator who tutored many future college and NFL players or who became high school coaches themselves. He also spent three seasons as a San Jose State assistant coach. Oak Grove High honored Buller in 2019 by naming its football field after him.

Eddie Buller was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.
