Pro Rodeo World Champion Steer Wrestler

A graduate of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, Jack Roddy was thrust into the rodeo spotlight in 1959 when he won the All-Around Cowboy National Intercollegiate Championship and the World Champion Intercollegiate Steer Wrestling title. He went on to win two World Championships in Steer Wrestling at the National Finals Rodeos.

Roddy served on the Rodeo Cowboy Association Board of Directors for 16 years and is credited for turning the sport of rodeo into the big business it is today. After he joined the National Senior Pro Rodeo circuit, he won two more Steer Wrestling World Championships. Jack has been inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and the California Rodeo Salinas Hall of Fame.

Jack Roddy was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
