Born and raised in Roseville, Calif., Summer Sanders was swimming laps by age four and earned her first international medal at 15. During her two years as a collegiate swimmer at Stanford Univ. in 1991 and 1992, she was a ten-time NCAA champion, won back-to-back NCAA Swimmer of the Year awards and led the Cardinal to the 1992 NCAA team championship.

At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Sanders was the most decorated swimmer on the U.S. team, winning gold medals in the 200 fly and 4×100 medley relay, silver in the 200 IM and bronze in the 400 IM. She won eight U.S. Championship titles and three medals at the 1991 World Championships, including gold in the 200 fly.

Now a successful television broadcaster, media host and author, Sanders was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
