SAN JOSE SPORTS HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2025
Rugby’s “Captain America”
Plaque Location: TBA
Through two decades as a fierce rugby competitor, Todd Clever dominated his sport like no other American. His feats as a Santa Teresa High teenager with San Jose’s College Park Rugby Club were followed by All-America honors at the University of Nevada in 2001-04. Clever subsequently gained international fame with the USA National Team and professional clubs in New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and England. In 2009 with the South African Lions, Clever became the first American to play in the Super Rugby Union. The US Rugby Foundation named him “Player Of The Decade” for 2000-2009. His record 76 caps with the national team included five World Cup appearances.
Todd Clever was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.
